Policy 303: Assistants to the Superintendent

303.1 Positions

In order to assist the Superintendent in carrying out the responsibilities of the office, the Board may elect as need is established, one or more assistants to the Superintendent, each of whom shall perform such duties as may from time to time be assigned to that individual by the Superintendent.

303.2 Qualifications

Assistants to the Superintendent, such as the Director of Instruction, shall meet the certification requirements as designated by the Iowa Department of Education and shall include sufficient educational background and experience to warrant recommendation by the Superintendent.

303.3 Appointments

Assistants to the Superintendent shall be appointed by the Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the Superintendent for a year contract period. Legal Reference: Code of Iowa) Chapter 279.13

303.4 Functions

Assistants to the Superintendent shall:

a. Be directly responsible to the Superintendent.

b. Assist the Superintendent in the administration of the school district and at the Superintendent's discretion, render any assistance desired in carrying out the responsibilities of his office.
