About Us

Greetings from the Mount Pleasant Community School District.

The district is the thirty-sixth largest of Iowa's 370 public school systems. Located in the southeastern section of Iowa, we are 45 minutes directly south of Iowa City and the University of Iowa. The enrollment of the school district is approximately 2,050 students. The District operates one regular comprehensive High School (grades 9-12), one alternative high school; WisdomQuest (grades 10-12), one Middle School (grades 6-8), and four elementary schools; Van AllenLincolnHarlan and Salem (grades K-5).

The district provides a full range of services appropriate to students' grades Kindergarten through twelve. These services include regular and enriched academic education; advanced placement classes; educational support for children with learning needs; talented and gifted programming; vocational education; and numerous individualized programs such as specialized instruction for students at-risk and for limited English-speaking students. The district also provides the educational component for Christamore House, a court-appointed juvenile facility located in the district.
